I guess fundamentally my objection to vibe coding and LLM contributions in general is that, at least to me, the process of figuring shit out is the point.

I think cutting out that journey is bad engineering, because design docs are rarely correct on the first try.

I am a trans woman going through tough times - severe depression has had me unemployed for a while now and it's come to the point where I'm really struggling financially. so yeah. I continue to be broke as I go through the process to recieve universal credit, and slightly longer term hopefully I will get myself hired. I basically just need to hold on until the end of the month and avoid accruing debt and fees on late payments. meanwhile I am being as thrifty as I can with food, trying to find means to have decent meals cheaply... though this has largely meant Ive been running on a calorie deficit.
I don't have anything to offer except gratitute - I've recieved some help so far which I am extremely grateful for, but unfortunately I am finding myself having to keep asking. Any help I do get I intend to pay forward to someone esle in need once I am employed again. Thanks.

the zeitgeist for western civilization is currently that the whole rotten edifice has been able to exist for so long coasting purely off entrenched power and looted wealth without having to improve or adapt at all that it's gotten to the point where the OS that effectively powers the US (Microsoft Windows) is along with the US itself engaged in a death spiral of destroying its own empire. this isn't a decision being made by anyone so much as an emergent property of a fundamentally broken system.

I'm thinking about this right now because I have to work with Windows 11 at my job and it's not even bad in a "muh freedumbs" sense or like some tech autist nitpicking about not being able to change your theme. it straight up is a non-functional OS that should not have gotten a production release and is blatantly becoming more expensive for enterprises to use because of how much downtime gets created maintaining this broken piece of shit and fixing all the bugs that have been haphazardly shipped to end users.

but the most perverse part of all is that this is absolutely not going to lead to a "year of the linux desktop", because all of these organizations are part of the exact same zeitgeist. they are all systemically incapable of change and will, along with the United States and Microsoft, destroy themselves on purpose rather than adapt. it's really quite something to be watching an actual civilization collapse in motion and no one realizes yet that this is what's happening because the cascading failure effects have not become extreme enough for people to acknowledge that we have a major problem on our hands.
