ryudov2 is not a distro and plan9port/linux is just a state of mind. it took me a month to build, refine, and test the install scripts and configs while juggling a full time job, moving into my van, and inching along with a handful of other projects.

i built it because i wanted to just be able to say "yeah this is what i use. you can try it if you want". that's where it stands rn. i have other things to work on like kuro, dollctl, my visual art, and my music.

• openbox + tint2 (custom forks for the way minimized windows are handled)
• rio-like window management with some shell scripts bound to the root menu
• intuitive keybinds for window management and stuff like volume and brightness control
• st, pcmanfm-qt, surf, and mblaze for the big 4 default apps (mblaze, isync, and msmtp need to be configured by hand for email to work but ofc they do)
• external storage menu with udiskie and openbox pipe menus
• steppenwolf gtk2, gtk3, gtk4, qt5, qt6, and audacious/winamp themes with matching openbox and dmenu themes, and solarized-esque terminal theme (sorry we are darkmode only rn)
• commonality icon theme for that extra retro feel
• pipewire-pulse working out of the box
• a bunch of multimedia stuff, signal, and vivaldi installed by default
• optionally also install a bunch of hacker tools by passing -x to the configure script
• plan9-style user dirs (~/bin, ~/tmp, ~/n, ~/lib)
• a handful of wallpapers created by yours truly

• during my breaks and after work at my stupid day job i can just pop across the parking lot to my van and have my kitchen at my disposal
• bed is spacious despite all appearances; the moonroof and rear windows let in the perfect amount of light in the morning
• my 100W solar panel and 256Wh battery are more than sufficient for my electricity needs (i have a first gen x1 carbon and a remarkable 2 and a midrange android phone and a portable speaker and it's summer in the desert. i know fall/wintertime in cali will not be so kind to my setup but it should be good enough)
• i know which cafes in town have the best internet (shoutout iconik red) and i got a membership to the community center for the shower and sauna while i'm still here for another 5-6 weeks; socialism is pretty cool
